An overview of hosting image galleries and selling online with Workspace.
Before you start
Check out the Deliver Your First Client Gallery article in the First Steps section of the Help Centre. It explains how to quickly and easily create a professional looking gallery "out of the box", upload images to it and share it with a client.
This article carries on from there.
Step 1: Select your gallery and website theme
Whether you're looking to create an entire website in Workspace, or just set up a client area to display galleries on your current site, you'll need to select a "theme" to shape its appearance.
- If you just want to set up a client area for your current site we suggest the Gallery theme Shutter.
- If you're creating a complete website, pick whichever Website and Gallery themes appeal to you.
- You can change or modify themes at any time.
- You can also customise website pages using our website widgets.
Step 2: Add your branding and social links
Add branding to your online galleries and website to protect your images (by adding a watermark) and to get your studio name out there.
Your logo will appear on the main website/client portal pages and in your shopping cart, as well as in the automated emails that Workspace sends your clients.
Your social media handles will display in the footer of your website and in the emails you send through Workspace.
Step 3 (Optional): Create a client gallery landing page (portal)
To share an image gallery all you need to do is send your client a link to it, but it's a great idea to go a step further and create a landing page, or portal, where clients and their friends and families can access ALL your active galleries. Galleries can be passworded or public. Public galleries are a great way for visitors to see the work you do, and the clients who've trusted you in the past.
If you're building a stand-alone website in Workspace, a landing page like this is optional. To create one, add a page to your theme called, for example, "Client Area", and on it select the Gallery Portal widget. You can choose whether to display a single gallery, the three most recent or "all events". If you select "all events", as you share new galleries they will be published automatically. There are additional controls to filter the content (e.g.private galleries only) or to set a maximum, and to style the appearance of the page.
If want to display Workspace client galleries on your current site, you'll definitely need a "Client Area" portal page. In the Workspace Website Designer, remove all the default widgets from the Workspace Home page and replace them with the Gallery Portal widget, as described above. With the necessary coding skills you can easily match the look of the Workspace page to your main site for a seamless experience.
Note: Click here for an overview of the Workspace Website Designer, which includes a description of all Workspace web "widgets", including for the Gallery Portal.
Step 4: Set up your store
Selling products through your online galleries is a great way to increase your profits from every job. When clients purchase products from your galleries the orders go directly to Queensberry. Queensberry fulfils them and delivers directly to your customers anywhere in the world. Meanwhile Workspace collects payment, which is paid directly into your Stripe account after deducting the wholesale product cost.
- You can set up multiple price lists and attach them to any gallery.
- You will need a Stripe account to receive payments.
- You will need to confirm your tax number and tax rates under "price list defaults" in the Workspace Settings area before Workspace can calculate and charge tax on your sales.
